Overview

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing R&D Automation team. You will play a key role in electrical design for Repligen’s automated and printed circuit-based products. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects in a collaborative environment.

 

We are an innovative life sciences company focused on developing and commercializing high-value bioprocessing products, technologies, and solutions critical in the production of biologic drugs.

 

You will be part of a cross functional team of highly motivated and collaborative colleagues that is building innovative new products, problem solving, and assist with customer issues. This role will be based in Marlborough / Waltham and will report to the R&D Automation Lead.

Responsibilities

·        Provide expertise with electrical design, development and implementation of industrial automation hardware and microprocessor based printed circuit board solutions for biopharmaceutical manufacturing and laboratory processes

·        Good understanding of CE, UL, ATEX, RoHS standards related to electrical safety of machinery and equipment

·        Assist with electrical design, line diagrams, implementation, enclosure design and build

·        Support all aspects of electrical engineering related to New Product development / Introduction from conceptualization, specifications, design, development, documentation and deployment

·        Sound approach to problem solving aligned to business and quality requirements

·        Excellent knowledge of E-Plan (or AutoCAD) and electrical design best practices for industrial equipment and machinery

·        Maintaining design documentation, electrical schematics, single line diagrams, 3D CAD models and Bill of Materials for various products.

·        Capable of developing system design specifications, Bill of Materials for electrical enclosure and streamlining system builds / manufacturing

·        Commercially aware and able to consider financial impacts on decisions and proposals

·        Familiar with programming utilizing C/C++/Ladder Logic

 

Qualifications

Required Skillsets:

·        Design and develop PCB analog and digital electronic and industrial automation (Rockwell or Siemens) designs and/or modifications per product requirements

·        Develop drawings, documentation, test plan and firmware adhering quality standards

·        Develop test fixtures and perform tests to prove design functionality, performance, and reliability.

·        Write functional specifications that document newly created designs and support product introduction.

·        Generate high-level block diagram to communicate electronic designs to varied audiences.

·        Self-motivated, quick learner and ability to get up to speed with related technologies and its implementation

·        Participated in technical design reviews, risk assessments, FMEA etc.

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

                                             

·        Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.

·        3 to 5 years in industrial automation and electronics design and development.

·        Demonstrated track record in electrical engineering with design, development and troubleshooting

·        Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills

·        Ability to lead and excel in a cross functional team environment

·        Work with suppliers to develop functional test fixtures

·        Demonstrated problem solving, analytical and project management / planning skills

·        Managing Change controls and design documentation updates

·        Able to work with outside vendors and technicians and manage their assigned work

·        Self-starter with plenty of drive
