Overview

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated, resourceful, detail-oriented scientist II within the research and development group focusing on downstream technologies in support of Repligen’s affinity chromatography business.

 

We are an innovative life sciences company focused on developing and commercializing high-value bioprocessing products, technologies, and solutions critical in the production of biologic drugs.

 

 

Responsibilities

The Research Scientist II will be responsible for:

  • Planning and performing hands-on laboratory experiments to support current products and new product development within the field of downstream processing of biologics, namely chromatography, and ELISA assay development.
  • Design and perform experiments to demonstrate feasibility and characterize performance. Typical work will include product benchmarking, scalability, DOEs for robustness.
  • Provide data driven updates and work with other departments including product applications, manufacturing transfer and product support.
  • Document experimental results and development data; provide internal oral and written presentations, author technical reports, user guides and application notes.
  • Work collaboratively across departments and teams. Train and mentor junior staff and interns.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in an Engineering or Scientific discipline (Biology, Biochemistry, ChemEng, BichemEng, BiomedEng) with at least 3+ years industry experience. Ph.D. with 1+ of relevant industrial experience in an application or product development setting.
  • Candidate should have in-depth scientific knowledge and experience in a wide array of techniques such as UF/DF, AKTA, Column Chromatography and ELISA based assay. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Well versed in a variety of biochemistry and analytical techniques such as protein purification by column chromatography, protein conjugation, HPLC/MS, SDS-PAGE, Western-Blot, PCR, Endotoxin, Bioburden, and ELISA assays.
  • Expertise in the design and development of robust and reproducible assays with an understanding of product tech transfer processes.
  • Knowledge of characterization and qualification techniques utilizing ICH guidelines for analytical assays.
  • Experience working within a cGMP/ GLP, and ISO regulated quality system.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task in a collaborative environment.
