Overview

The Director, Global Payroll will lead the development and execution of Repligen’s global payroll strategy to

support a growing global workforce. This role ensures proper controls and payroll compliance across jurisdictions,

promotes operational efficiency, and fosters employee satisfaction by overseeing the accurate and timely processing

of payroll across all regions.

 

This role will serve as the key architect and steward of global payroll governance, ensuring scalable, legally

compliant, and future ready payroll processes. Reporting to the VP, Corporate Controller, the Director will

collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including HR, Finance, Legal, and regional payroll leads to drive

excellence and strategic alignment globally.

Global Payroll Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and lead the execution of Repligen's global payroll strategy.

    · Design and implement global payroll policies, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance with

    international standards.

    · Provide strategic insights on payroll operations that support financial planning, workforce expansion, and

    global operational efficiency.

Cross-Regional Coordination & Systems Oversight

  • Partner closely with regional payroll and HR teams to ensure harmonized processes and systems across

    countries. 

  • Oversee and optimize global payroll platforms (including Workday and other tools), ensuring integration,

    data accuracy, and operational scalability.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Monitor and ensure current and future compliance with all applicable local, regional, and international payroll

    regulations, tax laws, labor codes, and social security requirements. 

  • Conduct periodic payroll audits to identify and mitigate risks proactively. 

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on global payroll compliance.

  • Design, implement, and maintain effective internal controls over global payroll in accordance with SOX

    (Section 404) requirements.

  • Serve as the primary payroll contact for internal and external audit engagements; own the preparation of control

    narratives, risk assessments, and evidence packages.

Merger & Acquisition Support

  • Assess payroll operations and compliance of acquired entities and drive post-acquisition harmonization.
  • Partner with Legal, HR, and Finance to ensure a smooth transition of payroll processes, systems, and employee pay structures in newly acquired regions or entities.

Vendor & Third-Party Management

  • Establish, evaluate, and manage relationships with payroll vendors and third-party service providers Globally, including Workday.
  • Negotiate contracts and ensure vendor performance meets service level agreements (SLAs) and compliance requirements.

Global Payroll Reporting & Analytics

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive global payroll dashboards and reports for executive stakeholders.
  • Analyze payroll data to identify trends, optimize cost efficiency, and enhance process performance.

Required Experience:

 

· Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field (Master’s or CPA preferred).

· 10+ years of progressive experience in global payroll operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

· Experience leading payroll functions across multiple regions including North America, EMEA, APAC, and

LATAM.

 

Skill & Competencies

 

· Deep knowledge of international payroll legislation, tax compliance, and regulatory environments.

· Expertise in global payroll systems such as Workday and related platforms.

· Exceptional leadership and cross-cultural communication skills.

· Strong analytical abilities with experience in payroll data reporting and trend analysis.

· Proven track record of managing large-scale transformation or system implementation projects in payroll.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with a global mindset.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

· Ability to work at a desk for extended periods, utilizing a computer and other standard office equipment.

· Visual and auditory ability to read detailed documents, analyze data, and communicate effectively in person

or via phone / video calls.

· Global travel will be required.
