Our fast-growing and acquisitive global public company is seeking a strong, experienced, and technically sound Senior Director, Assistant Corporate Controller who will oversee the Company’s accounting processes across all global subsidiaries. Reporting directly to the Chief Accounting Officer, this role has a high degree of exposure to the complexities of a multi-site international public company. We are seeking a leader who combines deep technical accounting expertise with proven experience in a manufacturing environment (inventory, cost of goods sold, supply chain-related accounting). This person must also bring a demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire teams through organizational change while driving operational excellence.
This position will work closely with Executive, Functional, and Business Unit leadership, offering significant opportunity for career growth and development. This hybrid role is based out of our Waltham, MA headquarters.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Oversee the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to senior management and external stakeholders, including quarterly and annual SEC filings (e.g., 10-Q, 10-K).
Manage global monthly financial close activities, ensuring discipline, accuracy, and strong analytics in partnership with teams across the organization.
Internal Controls & Compliance
Design, implement, and maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and multinational tax and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and interim reviews.
Negotiate and administer the Company’s insurance programs, including directors and officers and property and casualty.
Accounting Policy & Technical Support
Ensure consistent application of US GAAP across the group.
Monitor and implement emerging accounting standards.
Serve as a key technical resource for complex transactions (revenue recognition, leases, acquisitions, impairments, restructuring).
Team Leadership & Change Management
Lead and develop a high-performing global accounting team, including directors and managers.
Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
Guide teams through periods of organizational change and process transformation, ensuring engagement and alignment.
Partner with regional and divisional finance leaders to standardize and optimize global accounting processes.
Process Improvement & Systems Optimization
Drive continuous improvements in accounting processes and financial systems.
Oversee financial system upgrades and ensure integration with business operations.
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Support
Support due diligence and integration efforts for acquisitions and divestitures, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting.
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including proven leadership in a global, multi-site environment.
Direct experience working in a manufacturing company, with strong knowledge of inventory and cost of goods sold accounting, required.
Demonstrated success leading accounting teams through change and transformation.
Strong track record in acquisition accounting, including purchase price allocations and post-merger integration.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data for senior leadership and non-financial stakeholders.
Strong project management skills; able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Advanced proficiency in financial reporting systems (e.g., SAP) and Excel.
