Overview

The Production Manager will oversee daily manufacturing operations within a biopharmaceutical silicone and plastics injection molding facility, ensuring compliance with cGMP, EHS, and regulatory requirements. This role combines production leadership with RPS (Repligen Performance System) Lean methodology responsibilities, driving efficiency, process excellence, and a culture of continuous improvement. The manager will lead cross-functional teams to achieve production targets while embedding Lean principles into daily operations.

 

Responsibilities

Production Leadership (Primary Focus):

Manage day-to-day production activities to meet EHS, Quality, Productivity, and RPS Lean objectives.

Ensure compliance with Repligen Policies, SOPs, ISO, and other applicable biopharmaceutical regulations.

Oversee scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination of multiple production processes and shifts.

Monitor production metrics (OEE, yield, throughput, deviations, schedule adherence) and take corrective/preventive action as required utilizing RPS Lean Tools.

Supervise, train, and develop production supervisors, leads, and operators. Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and employee engagement. Lead by example in reinforcing cGMP and Lean behaviors on the shop floor. Conduct performance reviews and provide developmental feedback.

 

Lean & Continuous Improvement (Secondary Focus):

  • Lead Kaizen events, 5S, standard work implementation, value stream mapping, and root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Train and mentor teams in RPS Lean tools (e.g., A3, SMED, TPM, visual management).
  • Develop Lean metrics and dashboards to measure progress and impact.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Facilities & Maintenance, Engineering, and Planning to eliminate waste and improve flow.

Leadership & Program Building:

  • Build a culture of continuous improvement across all functional departments within the site.
  • Coach frontline supervisors and team leads to become Lean leaders.
  • Establish and grow a Lean champion network within the plant.
  • Support recognition programs to reward Lean improvements and team engagement.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Achievement of production schedule adherence.
  • Reduction of deviations, rework, and waste. Improvement in OEE and throughput.
  • Progress in Lean maturity (5S audits, Kaizen participation, process standardization).
  • Employee engagement and retention metrics.

Strategic Growth Toward Operations Leadership:

  • Shadow and support the Director of Operations in day-to-day operations.
  • Participate in production planning, shift management, KPIs, and labor performance management.
  • Gain exposure to production budgeting, capacity planning, and cross-functional team leadership.
  • Demonstrate readiness to take on broader operational responsibilities through hands-on engagement and initiative.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of manufacturing leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a Lean or Continuous Improvement role.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean principles and proven success in implementing Lean projects.
  • Experience facilitating cross-functional improvement activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills; ability to influence at all levels.

Preferred:

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience in regulated or high-mix manufacturing environments (e.g., medical devices, biopharma, aerospace, automotive).
  • ERP/MES familiarity.
  • Desire and aptitude for career progression into operations leadership.

The estimated base salary range for this role, based in the United States of America is $115,000-$142,938. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to an individual's qualifications, location, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, employees are eligible to participate in one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
