Overview

JOB SUMMARY

The Country Manager is responsible for establishing the local brand, creating a strong market presence, building, and cultivating local customer relationships, and representing the Company for the local legal and business interest of the subsidiary. In doing so, the Country Manager is representing the Legal, Finance, and HR interests of the Company.

 

Occasionally working outside of office hours is required to communicate with colleagues in the USA and Europe.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Commercial Responsibilities:

  • Meet or exceed the annual committed revenue and expense targets.
  • Execute Repligen’s primary product strategies defined by the CEO’s executive team and Business Heads
  • Execute Repligen’s commercial strategies, including staffing, distribution and channel strategies, pricing and discount strategies as defined by the CEO’s executive team and the Global VP Sales.
    • Build Repligen’s local presence and senior level relationships.
    • Work with the Regional Sales Director and Global VP of Sales to set and establish:
    • Regional sales and sales support structure including territory design, channel management, FAS and FSE support teams.
    • Annual sales targets by product line and territory
  • Build Repligen’s local customer/industry presence and reputation as a ‘top tier” vendor and establish senior level management connections with all our top/strategic customers.
  • Customer support organizational services (Customer service and logistics, Field Application Sciences and Field Service Engineering) are hired and managed locally but to global strategies, processes and goals developed by functional global leadership. The Country Manager is to hire, structure and manage these critical resources in close collaboration with the Head of Global Sales and with functional leadership, including Customer service and logistics, Field Application Sciences and Field Service Engineering.
    • For Repligen, Marketing is a centralized Global function, delivering programs for the
  • field organization. These global marketing programs and product positioning should be executed at a local level using local resources that take account of local cultural, customer and competitive situations. Marketing programs will be funded centrally or locally having been developed in close collaboration with the Global VP of Marketing, the Regional Sales Director, and Global VP of Sales to set and establish annually a local marketing plan and agreed associated budget.
  • All decisions taken should be in line with Repligen’ s communicated strategies for product lines, business channels and sales practices for the benefit of Repligen, customers, employees, and shareholders. 

HR Responsibilities:

  • Be the local role model of the company culture.
  • Set personal and site goals and metrics for the local team.
  • Complete the evaluation of performance and productivity of local staff.
  • Effectively communicate the local application of corporate goals; provide periodic company updates to staff.
  • Mentor and coach staff
  • Communicate with corporate/local HR on people-related topics, including performance, development, morale, and engagement.
  • Working with corporate recruiting team, seek approval for new hires, including planned start dates, compensation level and responsibilities; recruit locally using contacts and network whenever possible.
  • Obtain approval on all new hires, providing CVs and interview feedback.
  • Develop and retain a motivated team using approved local legal hiring and employment standards.
  • Maintain a good understanding of local labor laws and regulations.
  • All decisions taken should be in line with Repligen approved HR practices and strategies, for the benefit of Repligen, customers, employees, and shareholders.

Legal Responsibilities:

  • Maintain local legal business compliance.
  • Establishing and managing the requirements for all physical structures and places of work. They should be safe, effective, meet all Repligen’s standards and project the correct local business image.
  • Meet all anti-corruption standards and train the entire team annually to the requirements of US FCPA legal standards.
  • Meet and adhere to all requirements for import and export licenses, diligently ensure that all products sold with the country requiring said licenses are exclusively for local “known customer” use and not for re-export or sale to unlicensed end users.
  • Establish and execute annually a local subsidiary board meeting. The purpose of these board meetings is to make the necessary and recommended changes required to keep the local subsidiary in timely legal compliance. The agenda for said board meetings shall be agreed between the Country Manager, Regional Sales Director, and Global Sales VP. Proposals and reading materials will be published two weeks before each board meeting.
  • All decisions taken should be in line with Repligen approved legal practices and strategies, for the benefit of Repligen, customers, employees, and shareholders.

Finance Responsibilities:

  • Maintain compliance for all income and tax provisions.
  • Manage all annually agreed budgets for both revenue and expenses.
  • Manage the agreed and approved transfer pricing policies.
  • Meet and adhere to all requirements for import and export of Repligen goods into the country.
  • Manage, and maintain local Repligen product inventory as agreed with the Commercial Management team and Business heads.
  • All decisions taken should be in line with Repligen approved Finance practices and strategies, for the benefit of Repligen, customers, employees, and shareholders.

Qualifications

Education, Training & Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in a scientific (biology/biochemistry) or engineering (electrical & electronics) field.
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in the bioprocessing or life science industries, inclusive of 5 years of leadership and management experience.
  • Proven successful sales track record, key account management and driving sales growth.
