Overview

The Manufacturing Lead plays a key role in the success of Repligen’s Injection Molding and Packaging operations. This individual will provide day-to-day leadership and direction to production teams, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency standards are consistently met or exceeded. The Lead will act as the primary liaison between operators, maintenance, quality, and the Supervisor, driving accountability, productivity, and continuous improvement across all molding and packaging operations.

This role requires a strong technical understanding of molding and packaging processes, the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues, and the leadership skills to coach, train, and develop a high-performing team

 

Second shift Operators receive a +$1.00 shift differential in addition to their hourly base pay for working this shift

Second Shift Schedule: Monday- Friday 2:00pm-10:30pm

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily production activities to meet or exceed safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals.
  • Serve as the on-shift subject matter expert for molding and packaging operations, supporting technical problem-solving, tooling issues, and process challenges.
  • Ensure proper setup, operation, and maintenance of molding machines, packaging lines, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Monitor production efficiency, identify bottlenecks or quality concerns, and drive corrective actions in collaboration with Quality and Engineering teams.
  • Coordinate with Supervisor, Managers , Planning and Scheduling to ensure production orders are completed to specification and on time.
  • Assign and track daily work assignments, ensuring proper resource allocation to meet the production plan.
  • Lead shift handovers and communicate effectively across shifts to maintain alignment and continuity.
  • Conduct regular process audits to ensure compliance with established operating procedures, documentation standards, and quality requirements.
  • Support preventive maintenance scheduling and ensure all equipment-related issues are reported and resolved promptly.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to operators, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure employees are adequately trained in all applicable manufacturing processes, tooling care, and safety procedures.
  • Evaluate performance, conduct annual reviews, and support professional growth and development of team members.
  • Review and approve timecards, vacation requests, and other administrative tasks as required.
  • Actively participate in production meetings, providing accurate status updates and engaging in problem-solving discussions.
  • Uphold all company policies and ensure full compliance with Repligen’s Quality Management System, EHS programs, and workplace conduct standards.
  • Proactively identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification in plastics manufacturing, industrial technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in injection molding or packaging manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a lead, senior operator.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of injection molding and packaging processes, equipment, and materials.
    • Experience with mold setup, tool changeovers, and troubleshooting molding defects.
    • Familiarity with thermoplastic materials and process parameters (e.g., temperature, pressure, cooling).
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and quality specifications.
    • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and cleanroom protocols preferred.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Leadership Competencies:
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate diverse production teams.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to hold team members accountable while maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment.
    • Capable of managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing production demands.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Must be comfortable working in a cleanroom manufacturing environment and wearing required PPE.
    • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours or shifts as needed to support production needs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Regular lifting of materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity to operate molding and packaging machinery safely and efficiently

The estimated hourly rate/salary range for this role, based in the United States of America is $25/Hr-$32/Hr. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to an individual's qualifications, location, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, employees are eligible to participate in one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
